Final Night- Bob Brummett Award & Special Appreciation
Bob Brummett, one of the founders of the Kaw Valley Rodeo Association, had a dream, to host rodeo in Manhattan. It is evident that this dream carries true to this day, with the countless hours and the amount passion that the KVRA staff puts in. We recognize an individual that posses the great qualities that Bob had, and who has made an impact on the Kaw Valley Rodeo.
Calf Scramble is our way of including those older boys and girls who want to experience the excitement of the rodeo arena, but have outgrown the Mutton Bustin'. As in any sporting event, especially for children, safety is of utmost importance. It is no different in the Calf Scramble. Boots or closed-toe shoes, please no flip-flops or sandals.
Children will be lined up inside the arena by the staff in the arena. The calves will have flag football belts attached to them. The object of the event is to grab one of the flags from the belt and bring it back to the arena staff. All children who return a flag to the arena staff during the event will receive a prize for participating.
As the flags are returned to arena staff, the winners names will be announced over the speakers. Once all flags are returned to arena staff, the children will be asked to exit the arena via either the east or west gates. Please make sure to watch for your child as they exit, as it is easy for them to forget which side they entered on.
If your child exits on the wrong side, they will not be allowed to cross within the arena, You will need to meet them outside the arena within the Rodeo grounds to bring them back to your seats.
